Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Essential: A candidate must be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961 with any State Bar Council and should have a minimum of 3 (three) years of post-qualification experience as on 01 May 2026.

Desirable:

  • Diploma or Post Graduation / LL.M. in Arbitration Law / Commercial Law / Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
  • Strong research and analytical skills, writing ability, and working knowledge of legal databases such as Manupatra, SCC Online, Westlaw, etc.

Age Limit

Applicants must not be above 35 years of age as on 01 May 2026.

Salary & Remuneration

Selected candidates will receive a consolidated gross monthly remuneration of ₹1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh only) per month.

Nature of Employment & Terms of Engagement

  • The engagement is purely contractual and full-time — it does not confer any right of permanent employment at DIAC.
  • Initial contract duration: 6 months, extendable up to 3 years.
  • The Deputy Counsel cannot practise as an Advocate in any Court of Law, Tribunal, or any other authority during the term of engagement.
  • The Deputy Counsel may be required to work on odd hours and holidays if necessary.
  • Premature discharge is possible without prior notice. If the employee wishes to leave early, one month’s prior written notice is required.

Disqualification Criteria

Candidates will be disqualified if they:

  • Are currently employed at DIAC or have previously served in the same position.
  • Have been involved in any criminal case (pending or convicted) involving moral turpitude.
  • Are facing any disciplinary proceedings before the Bar Council of India, State Bar Council, or any other authority.
